Mike Haugen has racked up an impressive number of summits over his climbing career, both in his native America and overseas, including 2 summits of Everest and a remarkable 136 summits of Mount Rainier. Mike juggles his guiding activities with his role as a high school chemistry teacher.

    Mike Haugen Web ProfileHaugen is passionate about climbing and education and has carved a career for himself combining both, teaching high school chemistry at Cherry Creek, Colorado and guiding mountaineering expeditions around the world in between. Haugen started rock climbing at age 16, and soon began pursuing higher mountains in the Rockies and around the world. Like many mountain guides, professional guiding was the next logical step and Haugen has amassed a number of notable ascents over the years. In addition, he has managed to fit in a degree in biology and a master's degree in evolutionary physiology at Ohio State University.
