SUMMIT AND SAFARI IN STYLE

Kilimanjaro Luxury

A Luxury team enjoy a picnic lunch in the forests that cover the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Adventure Consultants specialises in ‘Luxury Services’ treks to Kilimanjaro for individuals or groups wanting the highest degree of comfort available on the mountain.

Services include 4 or 5 star hotel, heated mess tents, walk-in sleeping tents with beds, showers, additional portable toilets, bottled mineral water, exceptional food, luxury safaris, Western guides and more.

The summit of Kilimanjaro is the culmination of a seven-day hike that takes you from the red earth plains up through tropical rainforest and alpine moorland to this arid landscape.

There has been no escaping the vibrancy of the landscape, emphasised by sounds emanating from the local support crew that fade in and out on gentle thermals, occasionally accentuated by bursts of Maasai tribal song.

When you stand on the broad summit of the highest point in Africa, you sense the vast expanse of the continent that breathes to a different rhythm to the rest of our planet. The blood-red dawn begins to illuminate the surrounding plains of the Serengeti broken only by the occasional distant peak. Strange ice formations sit stranded on the coarse gravel around the summit plateau, like isolated icebergs left by the ebbing tide. Inexplicably, it makes you smile. You are really here.

Any visit to Africa must include a safari and our 5-day / 4-night Luxury Tented Safari takes in some of the world’s most unique game reserves such as the Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Parks and the Ngorongoro Crater.

PREPARE

Fitness

The Kilimanjaro trek is challenging and you MUST train for several months prior to departure to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. Training should include regular walking on hills, in combination with swimming, light running or biking and gym work to develop strength. We recommend training plans from Uphill Athlete.

Trekking Experience

No technical climbing experience required. The climb itself is more of a challenging trek or scramble, it is not necessary to use ropes or mountaineering equipment at all!

Altitude Experience

No prior altitude experience required.

Our expeditions voluntarily participate with KPAP’s monitoring activities and allow KPAP to evaluate the treatment of our porters on all of our climbs. By climbing with us you can be assured that your porters are well taken care of.

KPAP also helps to improve the working conditions of porters by:

  • Lending donated clothing at no charge to the mountain crew for use while climbing
  • Educating the public on porter working conditions and climbing responsibly

"5 star outfit with excellent support teams in the locations of both adventures we have undertaken with Adventure Consultants. The care and attention to detail given to us by AC would be the best recommendation to other trekkers and climbers. This is paramount to the success of challenges of this nature."

Tents on Kilimanjaro

"The level of coordination Adventure Consultants provided to us was incredible, and so useful. They took all of the “guess-work” out of planning for this trip, and we had constant support available to answer all of our questions. They could not have been more helpful or provided more expertise/assistant in planning our honeymoon! It was truly an unforgettable trek, and I don’t think we could have had the same experience if a different company had planned it."
