In May 2019 Alexander Pancoe completed the Explorer's Grand Slam - the Seven Summits and the two geographic poles. All the while raising money for the paediatric neurology program at Lurie Children's, the hospital that gave him the ultimate gift of 'peace of mind' in 2005. Alex raised close to half a million dollars for his chosen charity, and continues to raise money for them today.
Australian Rebecca Heah has teamed with fellow climbers, Gary Lewis, Alexander Jury, Trent Thorne, also from Australia and American KyQuan Phong to create the Denali Five. The intrepid team climbed Alaska's 6,190m/20,308ft Denali and raised over $8,000 for mental health organisation Beyond Blue in the process.
Rebecca continues to raise money for charity on each and every climb she undertakes. Most recently Rebecca climbed Mount Everest, completing her Seven Summits journey while raising money for Interplast and Ojos del Salado, the world's highest volcano while raising money for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders).
In September 2014 an Australian team of four climbers mounted an assault on the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe. Their climb was designed to symbolise the hidden mountains that those with a brain injury and their carers and families must climb each day.
