Participants must have good fitness, balance and coordination. A regular training programme must be followed for many months to achieve the level of fitness required. We suggest a programme tailored to mountaineering such as those from the Uphill Athlete.
Lobuche East 6,119m/20,075ft
Pokalde 5,806m/19,048ft
Island Peak 6,189m/20,305ft
Our Three Peaks Nepal Expedition provides an ideal progression and excellent introduction into Himalayan mountaineering. The expedition climbs a host of classic peaks at, or around 6,000m in a relatively short timeframe, allowing climbers to develop skills and learn about their own performance at altitude as they go. An achievable expedition for anyone new to climbing with a keen sense of adventure and desire to learn more about high-altitude mountaineering.
This trip offers an opportunity to partake in a journey that covers a lot of terrain and enables you to make multiple ascents on peaks of moderate elevation. The journey has many visual highlights with stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks of Everest, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam and many, many more.
Initially, we trek into the Khumbu to acclimatise and then we tackle Lobuche East. This ascent includes ideal terrain for refreshing basic skills and learning the art of fixed rope climbing. We move camp to the base of our next objective, Pokalde, which is straightforward and consolidates your skills. Island Peak is more technical than the initial two climbs, with more glaciated terrain to negotiate and steeper climbing with and slightly more exposure on the approach to the summit. The summit views are dramatic looking across the valley towards Ama Dablam and then to the southern wall of Lhotse and Nuptse.
This lodge-and-camping-based trip allows you to enjoy the Nepalese culture while providing very achievable climbs for anyone in good shape with basic mountaineering skills and a desire for high adventure.
- Three moderate-altitude summits in one expedition
- Learn a lot about high-altitude climbing
- An ascent of three of Nepal's most popular trekking peaks provides an ideal progression and gives you an excellent introduction to Himalayan mountaineering.

PREPARE
Participants should have ice axe and crampon skills and be familiar with abseiling/rappelling. Instruction in the use of fixed ropes and ladder crossing will be given on the expedition prior to climbing. We recommend that if you do not already have any mountaineering skills, you attend an introductory mountaineering course like our Alpine Skills Course or Chamonix Introductory Mountaineering Course.
No previous altitude experience required.
Adventure Consultants is renowned for the quality of its service and strategy applied to high altitude expedition climbing. Our reputation is attributed to meticulous planning and experienced logistics coordination. We have a philosophy of investing in every expedition to offer our climbers the best possible chance of success.
We employ strong and specialised Expedition Leaders and Sherpa staff who are recognised as some of the most pre-eminent mountaineers in the industry.
Many operators make statements about their services that are intentionally designed to mislead or avoid addressing important issues. The reality on the mountain is that unless you have a strong and experienced leader with sufficient Sherpa staff in support, the chances of summiting are dramatically reduced. Expeditions that are operated by local staff, with no qualified and experienced western guides, are generally not able to offer you a legitimate level of safety or success. These expeditions have the highest ratio of accident and frostbite injury on trips which may seem cheap at the time when booking but the long term effects make the price difference irrelevant.
The AC approach to making expeditions work for you is reflected in the quality and safety of the expeditions we run along with our consistently high success rate.
The price of your trip includes the following:
- Professional, qualified guides
- Experienced Sherpa team
- Helicopter flights Kathmandu-Lukla and return
- Excellent food and catering
- Visit Everest Base Camp
- Expert logistics
- Regular dispatches for families and friends to follow your expedition
- Comprehensive support from our New Zealand office team.
