The need for exceptional physical fitness cannot be over-emphasised. A regular, strenuous programme must be followed for many months to achieve the level of fitness required. We suggest a programme tailored to mountaineering such as those from the Uphill Athlete.
Putha Hiunchuli (7,246m/23,773ft), also known as Dhaulagiri VII, sits at the western end of the Dhaulagiri range in the remote Dolpo region of northwestern Nepal
Under Nepal's proposed new regulations requiring Everest aspirants to have summited a Nepal 7,000m/22,965ft peak, it is set to become an important stepping stone on the path to Everest. The approach trek passes through a Tibetan-influenced landscape largely unchanged by tourism, and the mountain itself sees far fewer climbers than the more frequented peaks of the Khumbu. On the mountain, the climbing is technically straightforward with well-angled snow slopes, making this an ideal high-altitude proving ground for those with Everest in their sights. Adventure Consultants brings the same standards of guiding, logistics and client care to Putha Hiunchuli that have made us one of the world's most trusted names on Everest.
- Position yourself for Everest under Nepal’s evolving regulations with a proven 7,000m summit experience
- Journey through a rarely visited, Tibetan-influenced region far removed from the busy Khumbu trails
- Comprehensive pre-trip support with specialist equipment consultancy
- Led by experienced, professional high-altitude guides with 1:1 Sherpa support

PREPARE
Climbers should have experience travelling on a rope team in a glaciated environment, experience with the use of crampons and ice axe on steep snow and ice slopes, and crevasse rescue knowledge. Cold weather camping experience is strongly recommended. You should also have previous experience on glaciated peaks such as Mt Rainier, Mont Blanc, Mt Aspiring and the Ecuador Volcanoes, and at high altitude eg. 6,000m peaks in Nepal, Aconcagua.
Climbers should have prior experience climbing at altitude to around 6,000m.
Adventure Consultants is renowned for the quality of its service and strategy applied to high altitude expedition climbing. Our reputation is attributed to meticulous planning and experienced logistics coordination. We have a philosophy of investing in every expedition to offer our climbers the best possible chance of success.
We employ strong and specialised Expedition Leaders and Sherpa staff who are recognised as some of the most pre-eminent mountaineers in the industry.
Many operators make statements about their services that are intentionally designed to mislead or avoid addressing important issues. The reality on the mountain is that unless you have a strong and experienced leader with sufficient Sherpa staff in support, the chances of summiting are dramatically reduced. Expeditions that are operated by local staff, with no qualified and experienced western guides, are generally not able to offer you a legitimate level of safety or success. These expeditions have the highest ratio of accident and frostbite injury on trips which may seem cheap at the time when booking but the long term effects make the price difference irrelevant.
The AC approach to making expeditions work for you is reflected in the quality and safety of the expeditions we run along with our consistently high success rate.
The price of your trip includes the following:
- Professional, qualified guides
- Experienced Sherpa team with 1:1 support
- Flights Kathmandu-Juphal and return
- Excellent food and catering
- Expert logistics
- Regular dispatches for families and friends to follow your expedition
- Comprehensive support from our New Zealand office team
