JB Chandesris

IFMGA Mountain & Ski Guide
AC IFMGA Guide JB Chandesris guides a rope team learning glacier travel skills near the Tasman Glacier, New Zealand

Jean-Baptiste, or JB, has been climbing and skiing in the French Alps since his childhood. His inherent sense of adventure and exploration has taken him to mountains across the globe, from the wild cliffs of Jordan to the icy expanse of Antarctica.

JB started guiding when he was 21, initially working mainly in the French Alps, before joining the AC team in New Zealand where he has spent a number of summers, and more recently in the Himalaya and Antarctica. JB enjoys the expedition life and challenge that comes with high-altitude mountaineering, recently achieving the summit of Dhaulagiri (8,167m) without oxygen.

Fluent in English, French and Spanish, you'll find JB is an adept and engaging companion in the mountains. When he's not working or climbing you'll most likely find him flying his paraglider, which he recently flew from the summit of Aconcagua!

JB is an IFMGA guide and you'll find him guiding for the AC team in Antarctica, Europe and the Himalaya - ready to seek new adventures and he looks forward to sharing more great moments in the mountains!
