Erika has spent much of her life exploring the mountains on skis, on foot and on the end of a rope. Originally from the Czech Republic and now based in British Columbia, Canada, her love of adventure has taken her to mountain ranges and remote places around the world.
An ACMG Ski and Hiking Guide, Erika has worked as a professional heli-ski guide for the past 16 years, primarily in the mountains of British Columbia as well as guiding heli-skiing in Turkey. She has skied extensively throughout Canada and Europe.
Her work has also taken her well beyond the mountains. Erika has worked in safety and production on international TV projects in challenging locations around the world, including Tanzania, Fiji and Morocco, combining her love of travel and exploration with working alongside people from many different cultures and backgrounds. The Himalaya hold a special place for Erika. In Nepal she has climbed Ama Dablam, Lobuche East, Island Peak and Mera Peak, and has trekked extensively through the Everest, Dolpo, Makalu, Langtang, Manaslu and Gokyo regions.
When she's not guiding, Erika is usually still somewhere in the mountains. Ultrarunning is one of her greatest passions, and she particularly loves long mountain races and journeys. She has completed the 450km Tor des Glaciers and the 360km Swiss Peaks, along with many other mountain ultras. Erika loves long days in the mountains, exploring wild places and sharing those experiences with others. She is excited to be a part of the Adventure Consultants team and looks forward to returning to the Himalaya and sharing many more memorable mountain adventures.
