A vital member of our Everest Base Camp Team is our Expedition Doctor, and this year we are joined by Dr Mattijs (Matt) Van Hooreweghe.
Matt is an avid trekker and mountaineer, having explored mountains across the globe from Europe to New Zealand and South America. Originally from Belgium, Matt has most recently been based in New Zealand and he first joined the AC team at Everest Base Camp in 2024 as our team doctor, and is returning again in 2025. As an Emergency Medicine specialist, Matt has a keen interest in high altitude and mountain medicine.
