Arnaud De Laveleye

IPGA Polar Guide
Arnaud De Laveleye on a polar expedition

Arnaud de Laveleye is an experienced IPGA Polar Guide with a passion for the outdoors. When he's not guiding polar expeditions, he's out exploring and climbing peaks across the globe.

Born in Belgium, Arnaud initially trained as an Air Traffic Controller, but soon found the call of the outdoors was too much to ignore and he headed off to explore the mountains of the world. After climbing the highest peak in every country in the American continent, while using his bicycle as a sole means of transportation, Arnaud ended his journey in Iceland, where he decided to rest his leathered buttocks and became a fully certified Hard Ice and Alpine Trekking guide through the Association of Icelandic Mountain Guides, and more recently has qualified as an International Polar Guides Association Polar Guide.

His passion and his love for guiding have brought him across the four corners of the globe (Alaska, Canada, Africa, Tibet, Bhutan, Europe and New Zealand). He has an impressive climbing resumé including Denali (Alaska), Logan (Canada), Aconcagua (Argentina), Ojos del Salado (Chile), Mont Blanc (France), Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Huascaran (Peru), Chimborazo (Ecuador), along with numerous crossings of the largest glaciers in Iceland and the Greenland Icecap.

Generous, tireless, sometimes funny and always smiling, Arnaud will ensure that you crawl into your sleeping bag each night with a full belly and a smile on your face! As our Greenland and Iceland specialist Arnaud guides our Polar Training Courses and Greenland Crossing Expeditions.
