Jean Benoît, known as JB, is a French IFMGA Mountain and Ski Guide who has spent a lifetime in the mountains and brings his experience and passion for guiding to our New Zealand guiding team.

Bio
JB was born and raised in Briançon in the Hautes-Alpes region of southeastern France, close to the Massif des Ecrins and the popular ski resorts of Serre Chevalier and La Grave. With such proximity to the mountains, it was only natural that JB began climbing at seven years old, with mountain biking also featuring largely throughout his childhood.By the time JB was 20 he had progressed to mountaineering, a passion which he balanced alongside his psychology studies. Since then, guiding has been the focus of JB’s career, taking him throughout the Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland. During the winter JB can usually be found on the slopes as a ski instructor, and for the southern summer of 2019/20 we are thrilled to have him joining AC as part of our NZ guiding team.
